The main concept behind the Wishful Penrose is to provide a cup pad that can easily convert into a pot pad and vice versa. With just a simple sliding motion, you can adjust the Penrose to the desired size, giving you the flexibility to use it for different purposes. The Wishful Penrose is made using a combination of wood and acrylic board. Laser cutting technology is used to cut the wood, while pressing film technology is applied to the surface of the wood plank. This ensures a durable and visually appealing product that will withstand everyday use.

Technical specifications for the cup pad are as follows: L:161mm W:139mm H:9mm. After stretching, the cup pad measures L:225mm W:195mm H:9mm. These dimensions provide ample space for both cups and pots, making it a versatile addition to your kitchen.

The Wishful Penrose project was initiated in February 2018 at the Turin Albertina Academy in Italy. The design team, consisting of Zhou Yixue, Zhao Peiyi, and Li Qiuye, worked together to overcome various challenges and bring this innovative product to life.

The designers conducted extensive research on the relationship between wood and acrylic board, carefully selecting the appropriate glue for the project. They also faced the challenge of making the cup pad adjustable, which was eventually solved by drawing inspiration from a drawer's mechanism. The result is a product that seamlessly transitions from a small cup pad to a larger one, and vice versa.
